Howdy All ..
I recently took over command of the USS Columbus, and would seriously be interested in jumping her into the Elyshan Empire Story Line. However I don't want to tread on any toes, and completely ruin the entire story ( just kidding )
Anyways, if someone could help me or give me some suggestions, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks

We are always looking for simms to participate in the Horizon Fleet Story Arc. That's why it was created! The Story Arc Committee, chaired by Ambassador Mordred Ocal, is responsible for overseeing all the information and approving mission ideas that will affect the Story Arc.
There are a few resources available to you that will give you some idea of what has been going on so far...
1) The Story Arc Information Thread - This is the thread on the Horizon Fleet Forums containing information about different aspects of the Horizon Fleet Story Arc. It can be found at http://forums.horizonfleet.net/viewforum.php?f=24.
2) The Story Arc Portal - This is the portal on the Horizon Fleet Wiki for all things regarding the Horizon Fleet Story Arc. Although it is still a work in progress, it is continuously being updated with new information. Keep an eye on this for cool information about what other simms are doing with the Story Arc. The portal can be found at http://wiki.horizonfleet.net/index.php?title=Portal:Story_Arc.
3) The Story Arc Committee - Chaired by Ambassador Mordred Ocal, the committee keeps track of all the missions and events relating to the Horizon Fleet Story Arc. They are responsible for approving mission ideas and ensuring the continuity of the story arc.
4) The Task Force Commanding Officers - Responsible for the administration of the task forces, these two individuals can be a valuable source of information and assistance in a variety of areas, including the Fleet Story Arc. They may have ideas as to how you can incorporate your simm into the general arc or even how you might tie in to the general assignment for the Task Force.
These are just four of the many valuable resources available to our commanding officers regarding the Fleet Story Arc. I encourage anyone seeking information to pursue these resources or simply ask any member of the Committee as they will be more than willing to answer any questions you might have.
Just throwing this out there, but would a science vessel like the Nova class USS Dalton have any place in this storyline?
Well, to put it in the mildest possible way...
Of Course!!!
The Story arc is not just meant for those in rough and tough battle cruisers, or flying shot guns, it is for all of us to enjoy and take part in if we so wish.
A science oriented mission involving the Elyshans might be something like an investigation into how their sub-space weapons work, or something like that.
Also, keep in mind that just because your vessel is generally a science vessel, not all of the missions need to be science based. Take the Excelsior class for example, Horizon Fleet classifies it as an Exploratory cruiser, but I have taken (or am in the process of taking) the Orlando on just about every kind of mission you could think of. Granted, the Excelsior class or Nova class probably wouldn't last too long by themselves against the entire Elyshan fleet, but then again none of our ships would fair too well going head to head against an entire fleet.
The sky is the limit, as long as the mission doesn't go against the laws of physics, you should feel more than free to become involved in any aspect of the story arc you would like.
