New Bridge-y WIP

Postby HaphazardGeek » Thu May 12, 2011 4:26 pm

Recently watched BSG all the way thru and upon seeing that there is now a carrier in HF it got my creative juices flowing a little!

I started thinking about what sort of bridge might a carrier need? Would it use a conventional design or something with a more CIC feel to it?

I've put together a little WIP that mocks out a general size and primary console layout and thought I'd put it up here to get your opinions, what would a fighter carriers bridge look like?

Very rough 1st stage.

Looks like a good start. I like the general layout.

started to map in the consoles and begun trying to work out where the ready room and briefing room might fit...

Maybe I'm just thick this morning; but what does Helm 2 and Eng 2 do?

A good question actually ;) My thinking was that in the event of the fighters being deployed and the ship being involved in an engagement the CO would move and command the situation from the table, and if he does then the helm and engineering stations would be transferred to the rear terminals so he doesn't have to yell all the way to the front of the bridge and everyone (aside from science) is focused in one spot.

O... M... G.

You ACTUALLY put the Head in there! You must be one of the few people that acknowledge the fact that there are still certain... "calls of nature" that even those in the 24th century still need to heed to. Although the size ratio is a bit off I think.

I really like it. Way to go!

Yikes, they are! What happens when you spend alot of time zoomed in, you lose a bit of perspective, will make adjustments to the size of the toilet tomorrow, poor ship will be losing crew down em at that size

Well when you gotta go you gotta go. I suspect the crew will actually appreciate the size; it would make things a lot easier for them as they have to worry less about accuracy

I always thought of it as an option for punishment. Kind of like KP, but since there's replicators, KP isn't called for so they send the miscreants to clean the Head.

Ok, added some personality to the consoles, but a viewscreen in and most importantly adjusted the seat and toilet size, should be bit better now....

I'm loving it.

I don't suppose you could do up a how-to guide on how to do stuff like this in Illustrator, could you?
